General Educational Development

  • The General Educational Development test is an exam that a student can request to write though the Independent Learning Centre. Once the student passes the exam, they are granted an Ontario High School Equivalency certificate. Students can also take General Educational Development preparatory course to help ensure student success.

    The General Educational Development exam is set by the Ministry of Education and it requires the candidate to understand, analyze and critique chosen passages. Students are eligible to write the exam if they:

    • Are at least 18 years of age and out of high school for at least one year
    • Do not have a high school diploma
    • Are a resident of Ontario
