  • Celine's Story

I decided to be a nurse because I wanted to be a voice for the voiceless, to be there for someone who feels alone.

In high school I lost six friends to suicide, it was very hard to go through but solidified my decision to become a nurse. Mental health is incredibly important and not something that can be overlooked.

Then I was diagnosed with a learning disability much later in life than many others. I felt like I was working as hard as I could, but it was never enough. It took time to recognize that I learn in a different way than others and the Accessibility Centre at Lambton College helped me with different learning strategies that addressed my specific needs.

Lambton College's Practical Nursing program explored the many different career paths available to nurses. Students were able to pursue their own passions through nursing. I am now employed as a home and community care nurse for the Kettle and Stony Point area and a supervisor for an assisted living facility.

I love being a nurse, that's something I can say for sure.

I want people to always know, no matter what, don't let anyone tell you, you can't do something, because you can and I proved that.

Lambton College has given me a career I love. I will dedicate the rest of my life to caring for those in need. It gives me great pride to be a Lambton College graduate.
