Program Capabilities outline what skills students should possess as they progress through each term/year of their program.

Co-op students and employers will find this information most useful and can reference this capabilities document to ensure students are gaining the experience they need to fulfill the program requirements.

The student will be capable of the following skills by the end of the term indicated:

Upon Graduation

  • Assess and analyze the characteristics, skills and behaviours of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to effectively implement evidence-based behaviour interventions.
  • Evaluate empirical evidence in order to select appropriate interventions for individuals with ASD.
  • Design and implement effective behaviour intervention plans under appropriate supervision and according to the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).
  • Evluate the effectiveness of behavioural intervention plans according to the principles of ABA.
  • ¬†Work collaboratively with families and teams to respond to the learning and behavioural needs of individuals with ASD.
  • Design, implement and evaluate as part of a team, ABA based transition plans for individuals with ASD.
  • Comply with established ethical principles and professional guidelines while working with individuals with ASD, families and teams.
  • Provide leadership in the promotion and provision of services to meet the needs of individuals with ASD and their families.
  • Evaluate empirical evidence in order to select appropriate interventions for individuals with ASD.
