Organizations in Canada are undergoing revolutionary changes to interpret and manage large amounts of information collected through web sites, transactions, records, and images. This information, known as Big Data, allows businesses to help effectively forecast, plan, and make informed decisions through better prediction of future outcomes as well as to provide solutions to many business, social, society, and technological challenges of today.
The Lambton College Big Data Applied Science, Ontario College Graduate Certificate is focused on utilizing Big Data technology to guide real-world industry decision-making through rich data mining, data management, and data science. The innovative curriculum focuses on topics such as Big Data best practices, data-driven predictive analysis, data management, Big Data’s role and impact in organizations and society, and how Big Data is utilized to guide business decisions, forecasting, and planning.
In combination with Big Data technologies, business intelligence tools and data analytics, students blend theoretical knowledge with hands-on skills for data collection, data set manipulation, exploratory analysis, data formats, and programming languages for processing massively large data sets. In addition to a full range of enhanced deployment skills, analytics and computing theory, students apply these skills to a variety of cutting-edge, open-source and vendor-specific business solutions.
