Lambton College to offer new licensing qualification program for insurance agents
November 16, 2016
SARNIA, November 16, 2016 – A new course designed to prepare professionals for the provincial insurance qualification exam is now being offered through Lambton College Learning & Training Solutions. The Life License Qualification program is an intense five-day program delivered through a unique partnership between Lambton College and Seneca College.
Students in the program will navigate through five course modules (four of which contain final exams), each led by an industry expert. Upon successful completion of the program, students will immediately qualify to write their online examinations, which they will have 30 days to complete.
This program has been designed in response to changes in provincial licensing standards. As of January 2016, Canadian insurance regulators, including the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO), implemented a streamlined and updated entry-level qualification program for new life license and accident and sickness insurance agents. The new initiative, known as the Life License Qualification Program, involved replacing various provincial education standards with one common standard across Canada.
The new 40-hour course will qualify students to write the national Life License Qualification Program, which is one of the mandatory requirements to become a licensed life insurance or accident and sickness insurance agent. Additional requirements include completion of a Life License Qualification program such as the one being offered at Lambton College and sponsorship from an existing insurance company.
The week-long program will be offered three times a year. Student progress will be tracked via the Canadian Insurance Participant Registry (CIPR) system.
Registration is currently open for the first intake, starting in January 2017.
