Lambton College marks 25th Anniversary Pow Wow with three day cultural celebration
April 4, 2017
SARNIA, April 4, 2017 – Great things stand the test of time. This can certainly be said for Lambton College’s Aboriginal Cultural & Learning Centre as they prepare to mark their 25th Anniversary Pow Wow with a three day celebration.
Everyone is invited to attend. This weekend-long event will feature a variety of demonstrations and interactive activities, which will be open to the public on Saturday April 8 and Sunday, April 9. Doors open at 10 a.m. with all dancers making their grand entry at 12 p.m. The festivities will continue until 6 p.m. on both days.
To accommodate the scope of this year’s celebration, this year’s event will take place at Sarnia’s Clearwater Arena, located at 1400 Wellington Street. Highlights will include craft exhibitions, dancers in full regalia, and traditional music. The community is encouraged to attend, and take the opportunity to learn about the Pow Wow and discover what it represents across Aboriginal cultures.
General admission is $2.00, with free admission for Lambton College students and children under 12. Guests are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the Lambton College student food bank.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs for comfort or there will be venue chairs available.
The 25th Annual Pow Wow will officially open its doors on Friday, April 7, where organizers will welcome students from local high schools for an exclusive educational opportunity.
The event is sponsored and hosted by Lambton College’s Aboriginal Student Council and the Aboriginal Cultural & Learning Centre. For more information, please visit lambtoncollege.ca/ACLC .
