College prepares for return to campus

10 / 18 / 2021

SARNIA, October 18, 2021 – After a safe and successful campus reopening in September, Lambton College is preparing to welcome even more students back to in-person classes for January 2022.

At this time, 95 per cent of programs will offer expanded opportunities for students to attend classes or labs on campus for the upcoming Winter Term.

Senior Vice-President Academic & Student Success Mary Vaughan says almost every student enrolled at the College will have at least a partial in-person learning experience and many programs will be delivered in a hybrid format.

“We’ve slowly been expanding opportunities for our students to return to the classroom with safety being the utmost importance,” explained Vaughan. “As we prepare for the Winter Term, we are excited to increase that number yet again, so we can offer more in-person classroom and lab experiences for almost all of our students. If COVID trends or government restrictions change, we will adjust accordingly to public health guidelines.”

Vaughan says the College’s mandatory vaccination policy, introduced in August, coupled with a strict screening process and heightened health and safety protocols have allowed them to slowly but safely open more doors to campus learning opportunities and student life experiences.

The Winter Term will also bring with it increased access to both in-person and virtual student services, which will be available to all students. The College will also continue to provide enhanced, in-person student activities, including access to the Athletics & Fitness Complex, Varsity Athletics, intramural sports, and student events organized by the Student Administrative Council (SAC).

In addition to opening the doors for more students to study on campus, the College is also thrilled to be offering an expanded list of programs with a January start date.

With recent funding from the provincial government, Lambton College will be offering a January intake for the Practical Nursing program for the first time. The funding, announced in July, will support the education of an additional 40 new students in the Practical Nursing program. Applications are currently being accepted for the Winter intake and students can expect to complete their diploma in four straight semesters.

Other programs that will be offering new intakes for the Winter Term include General Arts & Science, Liberal Studies, Photography, Police Foundations, Pre-Trades & Technology, and Protection, Security & Investigation.

Applications for all full-time programs at Lambton College are currently being accepted at ontariocolleges.ca.
