The Dee Cox Leadership in Learning Award recognizes a Lambton College employee who strives to release the untapped potential of others.

This leadership is exemplified through the support of others in the achievement of positive change and recognizes that learning is an ongoing process of gaining knowledge in the hopes of realizing a fulfilling life.

Policy

  1. The Dee Cox leadership in Learning Award recognizes the coming together of an individual's passion for personal and professional development, and a dedication to enhancing the Lambton College community.
  2. The award will be presented annually.
    1. Should there be no eligible or deserving candidate for this award in a given year, the award will not be granted.
  3. The recipient of the award shall be the employee who best lives and regularly demonstrates the personal characteristics and skills of Dee Cox.
  4. Characteristics include:
    1. inclusive,
    2. passionate,
    3. believes in diversity,
    4. engaging,
    5. active,
    6. strong moral compass,
    7. integrity,
    8. respect for people, and
    9. adventurous spirit.
  5. Examples may include but are not limited to:
    1. Positively contributes to the growth and development of others;
    2. Strives for consistency in excellence;
    3. Personally committed to developing esteem in people;
    4. Works toward developing relationships with others;
    5. Acts as an innovative change agent;
    6. Serves as a trainer, facilitator or consultant for external organizations;
    7. Demonstrates a commitment to community services through leadership roles in the community, citizenship experiences with several organizations, community partnerships, etc.;
    8. Participates in workshops and training sessions sponsored by the college that are focused on the development of professional or vocational skills;
    9. Pursues a higher level of education and professional designation through an accredited institution or association; and
    10. Actively participates on college committees or on college task teams for special projects.
  6. The winner will be determined by an award committee, appointed by the Associate Dean, Teaching Innovation and Learning Support Services, which shall consist of the following:
    1. two deans or directors;
    2. two support staff;
    3. two faculty members; and
    4. one retiree.

The Award

  1. The award shall consist of a framed certificate. The award will be presented at the Annual Employee Recognition Event.
