Policy

  1. Food and drink are prohibited where hazardous materials are present or are likely to be present or used in the workplace.
  2. The College will post signage in a prominent location at the entrance(s) to labs, shops, and any area where the prohibition is in effect.
  3. Individuals are expected to comply with the above prohibitions and may be subject to disciplinary actions for failing to do so.

Definitions

Workplace
Any land, premises, location, or thing at, upon, in, or near which a worker performs their duties
Hazardous Material
Any hazardous product, as defined by the Hazardous Products Act, or chemical product, as defined by the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulation; includes dust and fumes generated from processes involving heating or mechanical actions on materials like wood, metal, and plastics such as sanding, grinding, cutting, planing, welding, heating, and brazing
