Lambton College announces new Interim Senior Vice-President

SARNIA, April 1, 2024 – Lambton College is pleased to announce a familiar face will be joining the Executive Management Team. Dave Machacek, who most recently served as Lambton’s Dean of Applied Science, Engineering Technology & Trades will be moving into the role of Interim Senior Vice-President, Academic & Student Success effective April 1, 2024.

Machacek will be replacing Lambton’s outgoing Senior Vice-President, Academic & Student Success, Mary Vaughan, who has accepted the position of Provost and Vice-President Academic at Sheridan College. Tiffany Majovsky, who was formerly the Associate Dean of the School of Applied Science, Engineering Technology & Trades was announced as the School’s new Interim Dean.

Since 2018, Machacek has been leading Lambton’s School of Applied Science, Engineering Technology and Trades, which has grown to include 21 post-secondary programs and seven apprenticeship streams. During his time as Dean, Machacek helped launch seven new programs and two new apprenticeship streams, and has coordinated strategic initiatives in math preparedness and capstone learning to enhance student success outcomes. Machacek is also credited for developing various partnership initiatives that align with emerging industries to further enhance the College’s ability to meet employer needs.

Machacek holds an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Waterloo, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario (specialization in Biology & General Science), and a PhD in Neuroscience from Emory University. To date, his career spans a diverse range of teaching experiences, extending from elementary school to graduate school, catering to a variety of learner needs.

Prior to coming to Lambton, Machacek served as the Chair of Applied Science and Technology at Fanshawe College, where he also spent eight years as a Professor and Program Coordinator. He has authored 18 peer-reviewed journal articles and one book chapter.

In his new role, Machacek will be responsible for planning, organizing, innovating, staffing, and managing Lambton College’s academic operations, and student success and services division. He rounds out a leadership team that also includes Spencer Dickson, Senior Vice-President, Strategy & Corporate Services, Mehdi Sheikhzadeh, Senior Vice-President, Research & Innovation, Kurtis Gray, Associate Vice-President, Student Success, and Marilyn Mason, Interim Senior Director, Community Engagement.
