It's recommended you have experience in Occupational Health & Safety practice, business writing, and a strong understanding of the English language.
Prior Learning Assessment

Credential Eligibility
If you are taking courses with the intention of completing this program and earning a credential, you must meet the Admission Requirements. It is your responsibility to supply proof of admission requirements to the Office of the Registrar before completing three courses in this program.
If you complete the program but fail to provide proof of admission requirements, you will be ineligible to receive your credential.

Tuition Fees
Paid in Full
Tuition for the full program is $7,470 and can be paid all at once.
Paid by Course
If tuition is paid by term, the fees are as follows:
- Eight-week course - $747
- Four-week course - $373.50
Additional Fees
- Students will be charged a grad fee of $75.
- International students have no additional fees.
All tuition fees - aside from the grad fee - are paid to the University of Fredericton. All registration and payments are done through UFred.

This course deals with extending the responsibilities of safety program policy and administration in organizational cultures. In some jurisdictions, "joint safety committees" are a regulatory requirement, while in others, they are a vehicle to improve corporate culture and enhance mutual trust/respect across the hierarchy. In most jurisdictions, a primary focus of any safety program is compliance with regulatory standards. This is typically an ineffective approach to reducing workplace losses. The field of health and safety has matured and offers a variety of approaches to accomplish this prevention goal.

In this course, students learn several basic risk assessment tools and the skills necessary to mitigate risk pro-actively. Students will learn how to apply these tools by becoming familiar with the process, needed resources, and practical examples for various methods. Workplaces typically represent many unseen but highly hazardous risks, including air quality, sound pressures, temperature extremes, workstation design, and more. Knowing basic identification and management principles to deal with these common workplace hazards will enable a more effective health, safety and environmental management program.

This course is meant to broaden one's knowledge and skills in fire safety. It will cover the standards and requirements for a Fire Prevention and Management Program and a range of fire prevention, protection and suppression systems.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will have an in depth overview of the principles of auditing as well as an appreciation of audit instruments. The theory and practice of performing the essential steps of a health and safety audit will also be covered.

Upon completion of the courses (or equivalent), students will undertake a Guided Practicum. Here, students will choose from six options, including development of a comprehensive program in a particular context, a detailed program addressing a particular risk issue, development of a business case for their current OHS Program, either one of two Minerva Case studies to perform a detailed analysis, or creating a presentation or another similar option. The Practicum will be evaluated based on the application of context from the courses, additional research, and the utility of the project. Students will be coached through the entire process, starting with a review of a proposal, and feedback at key points through the project.

Technology Requirements
It is required that students purchase a laptop with a Windows operating system.
Internet Speed Requirements
For best performance for students learning remotely, an internet connection with a minimum of 40 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speed is recommended in order to effectively use video conferencing and remote lecture delivery software as well as, other online resources remotely. Due to the large area over which students may be dispersed, we are unable to recommend a specific provider, so you will need to inquire around your area to find one that best suits your needs.

In order to access the internet and virtually-delivered software and courseware, student laptops should include the following at a minimum. By meeting the following specifications, students will be equipped to access software and courseware on their laptop through the internet:

To ensure students are getting the most our of their classroom experience, some software will be required.
Lambton College has made this software easily accessible online. Students can leverage our Microsoft Office 365 software packages and services. In addition, much of the software you require for your courses will be available on demand for use on any device - on or off campus.
